Dak Nong exchanges cooperation opportunities with the Frankfurt Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Federal Republic of Germany

Continuing the local promotion program in the Netherlands - Germany, the delegation of Dak Nong province led by Mr. Ho Van Muoi, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee had a meeting with the Frankfurt Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IHK), Federal Republic of Germany.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Ho Van Muoi informed about the geographical location, natural conditions and economic potential of Dak Nong province. Accordingly, Dak Nong province is a locality with stable economic growth with GRDP per capita in 2023 reaching 2.8 thousand USD and annual import and export turnover of over 1.2 billion USD. The three main economic pillars that the locality is aiming for are the mining industry, high-tech agriculture and resort tourism.

Dak Nong is oriented to develop the alumina industry, aluminum smelting and renewable energy, with the goal of becoming the center of the bauxite - alumina - aluminum industry of Vietnam. The province currently has Nhan Co Alumina plant operating stably since 2017 with a capacity of 650 thousand tons/year and an aluminum electrolysis plant expected to operate in 2024 with a capacity of 450 thousand tons/year. In terms of renewable energy, the province has the technical potential of wind power of over 8,300 Megawatts and solar power of over 59,000 Megawatts peak.

In the field of agriculture, Dak Nong develops agriculture applying high technology and linking the market value chain, with fertile basalt land and famous agricultural products such as coffee, pepper, durian, avocado, passion fruit. In terms of tourism, Dak Nong promotes its advantages in natural landscapes and typical culture, with Dak Nong UNESCO Global Geopark and many famous attractions such as Ta Dung Lake.

On that basis, Dak Nong calls for cooperation with the Federal Republic of Germany in the fields of bauxite - alumina - aluminum industry, renewable energy, high-tech agriculture, agricultural product processing and logistics infrastructure development. The province wishes to share experiences and promote investment, especially developing agricultural product processing factory projects to improve product value, as well as building a logistics center for exporting goods. Dak Nong also hopes that Duc will support consulting and investing in the development of the transport system, especially the railway and expressway connecting the Central Highlands provinces.

At the meeting, Mr. Johannes Richter, IHK's International Business Director in charge of India and Asia, said that the organization currently has about 104,000 members, including 22,000 companies involved in international business activities. Frankfurt is home to the largest Vietnamese business community in Germany, with 250 Vietnamese companies doing business here. As the focal point, Mr. Johannes Richter committed that IHK will promote exchanges, cooperation and investment between the parties in the coming time.
