On the morning of May 27, at Regiment 726 in Quang Truc commune, Tuy Duc district, the People’s Committee of Dak Nong province held a ceremony to announce and present the decision recognizing Sở Trà Bu P’răng as a provincial-level historical site.

Attending the ceremony were Ms. Hà Thị Hạnh, Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Dak Nong province; Ms. Tôn Thị Ngọc Hạnh, Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People’s Committee; along with local leaders and representatives from the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
According to historical records, around the 1930s, the French colonialists established the Sở Trà Bu P’răng plantation to serve their colonial exploitation. By 1959, the plantation had expanded to over 80 hectares, producing nearly 5 tons of tea annually, making it one of the largest plantations in Quang Duc province (now Dak Nong).
The main building of Sở Trà Bu P’răng covers approximately 218m² and was constructed in the French architectural style, with 70-cm-thick brick walls, wooden doors, a fireplace, and a reinforced concrete structure.
Beyond its architectural and economic significance, Sở Trà Bu P’răng is associated with many important historical events during the resistance wars against the French and the Americans. From 1945 to 1954, the area served as a gathering place for revolutionary forces, providing food supplies and acting as a shelter and secret operation base for many revolutionary cadres.

Provincial and local leaders unveil the site’s plaque and officially recognize Sở Trà Bu P’răng as a historical site
Currently, the Sở Trà Bu P’răng site is located within the area managed by Regiment 726 under Corps 16 (Ministry of National Defense), with a total protected area of about 9,500m².
Despite over 90 years of historical ups and downs, weathering, and the impacts of war, the plantation area still preserves a relatively intact reinforced concrete structure built in early 20th-century French architectural style.
With its remarkable historical and architectural values, on November 1, 2024, the People’s Committee of Dak Nong province issued Decision No. 1336/QĐ-UBND, officially recognizing the site as a provincial-level historical relic.
The Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People’s Committee tasks local authorities and relevant units with scientifically and effectively preserving and promoting the site
Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People’s Committee Tôn Thị Ngọc Hạnh emphasized the importance of the Sở Trà Bu P’răng historical site in educating revolutionary traditions and promoting local tourism development.
She assigned local Party committees, authorities, and relevant units the responsibility to manage, preserve, utilize, and devise scientific and effective plans to promote the site’s value. The cultural sector is to coordinate in developing a cultural-ecotourism route linked with destinations in Tuy Duc and the entire province, creating an appealing tourism chain. The regiment is to be assigned official management and protection of the site, in accordance with regulations and with the agreement of Corps 16.
Additionally, communication and promotion of local cultural heritage and tourism products need to be enhanced to raise public awareness, attract visitors, and contribute to the province’s socio-economic development.
