The ear blowing ceremony (khôm tor) for children is an extremely important ritual, part of the life cycle ritual system of the M'nong ethnic group. This ritual aims to educate basic knowledge for their children so that later on they can enter life with confidence, steadfastness, know how to be the head of their family and clan, and know how to build a peaceful and prosperous village.
According to the customs of the M'nong people, after the ear piercing ceremony, the child is raised and cared for by the parents until he or she is 7-10 years old, then the parents perform the ear blowing ceremony for their child. The ceremony is usually held at midnight on the full moon day of the eighth lunar month.
